Paracas

Paracas is a coastal Peruvian town known for its natural beauty, the Reserva Nacional de Paracas, and the Islas Ballestas, home to diverse marine wildlife.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Lima – Paracas
Arrival in Paracas and check-in at the hotel.
Meals: Not included

Day 02: Islas Ballestas – Lima
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, we will head to the tourist pier of Paracas to begin the tour to Islas Ballestas around 8:00 AM.
We’ll board our speedboat and first observe the types of boats used in Paracas’ two main activities: tourism and fishing. As we sail through Paracas Bay, we’ll see the largest peninsula in Peru.
We’ll stop at a northern point of the peninsula to view, photograph, and film El Candelabro, where our guide will explain briefly about its dimensions, local materials, and possible origin.
The tour continues and after approximately 15 minutes from El Candelabro, we reach the Islas Ballestas, home to a rich biodiversity thanks to the Humboldt Current, upwelling phenomena, and other factors like sun and wind.
Birdwatchers will enjoy observing a great variety of birds such as seagulls, terns, boobies, cormorants, pelicans, vultures, and Humboldt penguins. You may also spot crustaceans, echinoderms, mollusks, seaweed, and more.
Undoubtedly, the highlight of the tour is the sea lions, or lobos marinos, who captivate visitors with their curious behavior—sleeping, “posing” for the cameras, or socializing freely, as they occupy the top of the local food chain with no natural predators.
We return between approximately 9:45 and 10:00 AM, enjoying the relaxing sea breeze—a natural stress reliever. At the scheduled time, we will return to the city of Lima.
